The PMINJ President is responsible for over sight of the chapter and the board. The President shall direct the activities of the other board members in accordance with the chapter bylaws.

The President presides at all general meetings of the Chapter and at all officer meetings. The President's principal function is to provide broad, general guidance of the Chapter and its officers, and to serve as Chief Executive Officer. Other guidelines include:


Serve as organizer and consensus builder for decisions of Chapter

Serve as liaison with PMI Headquarters, fellow PMI chapters, Region 4 members and mentor, and other professional NJ based organizations

Ensure that the Chapter has satisfied all requirements of PMI Headquarters (Charter Renewal, tax, insurance, etc.)

Represent Chapter at Leadership Conferences where possible or send a delegate

Respond to communications from members and persons interested in the Chapter or direct them to appropriate Board member or the member services center

Advisors provide advice and guidance to the Executive Board.

The Member and Volunteer Relations VC is responsible for addressing the needs of chapter membership, including membership recruitment, retention, and associated value delivery. The VC is also responsible for recognizing accomplishments related to Project Management (Project of the Year and Project Manager of the Year) and other professional and personal achievements. They are responsible to recognize the needs of volunteers, including recruitment, retention, recognition, and leadership development training.The Membership VC has the following VP organizations:

  • VP Membership
    The VP is responsible for all membership and retention activities. The VP serves as the public interface for member information and promotes the benefits of membership to individuals and corporations. The VP is responsible for communications with the members as they join, rejoin, or renew. They will also communicate with members to assure that they are receiving value from their membership. The VP will help to identify opportunities for the chapter to provide an engaging experience for members. The VP is also responsible for the Member Service Center that provides support for all quires regarding PMINJ.
  • VP Outreach
    The VP is responsible for maintaining alliances and providing assistance to New Jersey communities, corporations, government, and educational institutions. Alos, the VP establishes and maintains Local Communities of Interest to assist members with spcific areas of interest.
  • VP Recognition | DEI
    The VP is responsible for recognizing accomplishments related to Project Management and other professional and personal achievements.
    This VP is also responsible for the Diversity Equity and Inclusion initiative for PMINJ to create meaningful change in our organizations and community. This will foster a higher degree of engagement, productivity and innovation in our activities.

The Marketing VC is responsible for chapter marketing and public relations to increase awareness of both the chapter and the PMI brand within the territory. The Marketing VC will develop and execute an integrated marketing, communications and public relations program to support the chapter's annual objectives.

    The VP is responsible for maintaining a consistent alliance with organizations that participate in the success of PMINJ.
    • Solicit and manage sponsorship opportunities
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporations, vendors, local components, educational entities, and REPs.

    The VP is responsible for all public relations and marketing activities for PMINJ. Development and creation of a marketing strategy and materials for chapter. Represent PMINJ at various community and / or business meetings to promote PMINJ.

The Education Vice Chair is responsible for establishing and maintaining programs to enhance project management knowledge and skills for members and prospective members, meet annual Catalog of Core Services requirements and support delivery of other approved programs and develop programs in alignment with the Chapter mission and goals.All matters relating to professional education, business requirements, vendor relations, facilities and registration activities fall within this VC role. The Education Vice Chair is also responsible for the mentoring program that links serious and accomplished Project Managers with those who would like a mentoring relationship so they can become a more accomplished PM.

The Education VC oversees the following VP organizations:

    The VP is responsible for all matters relating to the development of professional abilities and certifications of the membership. The VP is responsible for the professional standing of credential holders, and the education of potential credential holders. This VP is also responsible for the mentoring program that links serious and accomplished Project Managers with those who would like a mentoring relationship so they can become a more accomplished PM.

The Past President is the immediate former elected President responsible for overall oversight of the chapter and the board in accordance with chapter policies and bylaws. The President can, from time to time, request the Past President to assist with various projects and help promote chapter activities.

Some guidelines include:

  • Assist as requested to provide wisdom on key issues
  • Work on at least one project per year
  • Assist with liaison to Leadership Development and Excellence Committee and HQ as requested
  • Support and enhance the work of other volunteers
  • Act as cheerleader and devil's advocate, as needed
  • Chair the nominating committee for board of director elections

The Programs Vice Chair is also responsible for supporting and maintaining professional development days, workshops, and other Chapter events that request or require a speaker.     The VP is responsible for all matters relating to facilities and registration activities for the Education VC.

    The VP is responsible for establishing PMINJs monthly programs. Plan special events and other special meetings as required. Ensure meetings do not conflict with annual PMI / seminar / symposium / holidays or local chapter meetings.

The VC is responsible for preparing, maintaining, recording, and circulating all records, correspondence, minutes of meetings and related affairs of the chapter. The VC shall also have oversight for the maintenance and presentation of all financial records required for chapter operations.

The Operations VC has the following VP organizations:

  • VP Operations
    Ensure official files, including a copy of the Chapter Constitution, Bylaws and amendments, and the Chapter Strategic Plan, are stored on the SharePoint site for the Board members. This is the ‘official’ site for document storage. They will also be responsible for all official correspondence to other organizations including PMI.
  • VP Finance
    Oversee the management of funds for duly authorized purposes of PMINJ. This includes:
    • Prepare an annual budget.
    • Collect fees, dues and other funds. Process refunds.
    • Pay approved bills in accordance with the approved budget or Board approval.
    • Complete annual Financial Report.
    • File Federal Tax Return.
    • File NJ Charitable Organization form.
    • Review and approve all contracts and licenses.
    • Maintain an inventory of all PMINJ assets and licensing agreements.
    • Assure that PMINJ is protected with certificates of insurance (COI) for all events.
