PMINJ Scholarships

Applications due 15 June. The 2024 Applications are closed.

The PMINJ College Scholarship is intended to give back to individuals who support the Project Management profession and the PMINJ Chapter.   It is neither a needs-based scholarship nor is it restricted to a particular field of study. (The applicant does not need to be pursuing a degree in Project Management.)The award is earmarked to assist the PMINJ members and dependents of PMINJ members who have aspirations of attending and succeeding in college.  The Scholarship is intended to help defray the high costs of higher education. There are 2 programs:

  • Undergraduate: some text
    • For dependent children: biological, stepchild, adopted and / or under legal guardianship of current PMINJ members
    • For current Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors in a College or University. High school Students are NOT eligible.
    • PMINJ members (Individual, Retiree, or Student) must have 3 consecutive years of membership as of the first of the award year.
  • Graduate:

    • For PMINJ Members (Individual, Retired, Student) self nomination only (no children)
    • For graduating Seniors in a College or University and individuals currently enrolled in a graduate program
    • PMINJ members (Individual or Retiree) must have 3 consecutive years of membership as of first of the award year.
    • PMINJ Student members must have 1 year of membership as of the first of the award year.

NOTE:  Submission of an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.  All submissions will be reviewed to determine who will receive the award(s) from the pool of submissions.

Undergraduate Scholarship Program

Eligibility

The Undergraduate award is open to freshmen, sophomore, and junior students attending full time in an accredited 4-year college / university: (High school Students are NOT eligible.)

  • Is for biological, stepchild, adopted and/or under legal guardianship of active PMINJ members whose membership is in good standing for three consecutive years prior to January 1 of the award year.  (example: for 2024 must be a member prior to 1/1/2021)
  • Scholarship is a one time award. There are no automatic renewals of this scholarship.
  • Prior scholarship recipients of this scholarship program are eligible to apply.
  • Has a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), 4.0 (on a 5.0 scale).
  • Is a full-time student attending an accredited 4-year college / university pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Is not on a full scholarship.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Academic Record - current cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), 4.0 (on a 5.0 scale) (Submit a complete undergraduate transcript with finalized fall and spring grades from Registrar required)
  • Leadership Activities - While enrolled in the college or university.
  • Community Service - While enrolled in the college or university.
  • Reference
  • Essay

  • 15 Jun - Scholarship application, Photo, and References submitted online via PMINJ website
  • 15 Jun - Official transcripts due from registrar (direct from the registrar via email or uploaded)
  • 30 Jul - Applications reviewed and approved
  • 05 Aug - Recipients notified
  • 09 Aug - Check sent directly to the Educational Institution.

Graduate Scholarship Program

Eligibility

The Graduate award is open to seniors, and graduate students enrolled or accepted to a Masters program at an accredited post graduate institution:

  • Is for PMINJ members (Individual or Retiree) whose membership is in good standing for three consecutive years prior to January 1 of the award year.
  • Is for PMINJ Student members whose membership is in good standing for one year prior to January 1 of the award year.
  • Scholarship is a one time award. There are no automatic renewals of this scholarship.
  • Prior scholarship recipients of this scholarship program are eligible to apply.
  • Has a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), 4.0 (on a 5.0 scale).
  • Is accepted to or enrolled in an accredited Institution pursuing a Master’s Degree.
  • Is not on a full scholarship.
  • Is not company sponsored.

Evaluation Criteria
