Instead of a summer monthly program break, we had a chapter outing to the Somerset Patriots baseball game at the PNCBank Arena in Bridgewater, New Jersey on July 31, 2005. It was a hot, but not sultry, afternoon with moments of cloudy breeze. The Atlantic City Surfs beat the home team 6-2 as the group of 65 chapter members and guests watched and enjoyed the entertainment. We cheered for recognition of our group and for one lucky group member who was randomly selected to throw the first pitch. Our hope is to continue the relationship with this local organization and learn more about their project management challenges and accomplishments. Next year, we'll try for an evening game with fireworks! Enjoy your summer and get ready for a great 2005-6 season of professional development and networking programs.

Returning for the fifth straight year, the PMINJ School Outreach team spent the day teaching project management skills to Eagle Scout candidates for Boy Scouts of America. The training course was delivered by PMINJ members Peter Krijger and Mike Vitale at the Patriot's Path Merit Badge Workshop in Parsippany. The Scouts were introduced to PM fundamentals as they relate to their Eagle Scout Service Project. The sessions were interactive and well-received by the Scouts and BSA leadership alike.

PMINJ volunteers joined Grow A Row in the fields on November 10th to harvest cabbage! It was a brisk, beautiful day and one of the most productive harvests, coming in at around 1.4 bins harvested per person! Volunteers contributed to the harvesting of about 62,000 pounds of cabbage, which provides 248,000 servings of healthy, farm fresh food that so many people will be able to enjoy!
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the volunteer event at the Community Food Bank of NJ in Hillside on Wednesday, December 20th. It was truly a rewarding experience to be part of such a meaningful initiative and to contribute to serving others in our community.
The event was well-organized, and the information provided beforehand was instrumental in preparing for the day. Sorting food, assembling food boxes, packing pasta, and prepping food for distribution were not only productive activities but also a reminder of the impact that collective efforts can have on addressing the issue of hunger in New Jersey.
I was inspired by the dedication of the organizers and fellow volunteers who came together to make a positive difference. It was heartening to witness the commitment of the PMINJ Chapter to social responsibility and community engagement.
Once again, thank you for providing this opportunity to serve, and please extend my gratitude to the entire PMINJ Chapter. I look forward to future opportunities to contribute to such impactful initiatives and to being part of a community that prioritizes making a positive difference.
Hello Volunteers,
It was so wonderful to see everyone at our Pittstown farm.
It was a hot day in the fields and we appreciate you hanging in there to the end! I want to thank you once again for helping to harvest our corn field. You did an amazing job and accomplished so much. In the few hours you spent in the fields you harvested enough to provide 105,000 servings (26,250 pounds) of fresh, healthy produce for our neighbors struggling with food insecurity. Awesome job!
